An auspicious start...
I apologize for the lack of posts this week - i have been attending a business meeting all week. Speaking of business meetings, the purpose of this trip was ostensibly to "foster a closer, more professional relationship between JTEs (Japanese Teachers of English) and ALTs (Assitant Language Teachers)". Also, we are supposed to teach them english, since that is sort of what we are paid for. So for three days, I have been attending...
I have lost my voice...
I`m clenching my fists so hard, I think my nails are starting to draw blood. I suck in my breath, and blow it out in a slow, measured jet. "Once again, I will tell you ... my throat and my brain are not the same thing...!" She gesticulates wildly, withered finger jabbing at that damn fuzzy ... monstrosity shrink wrapped to the package. I almost lose it... "HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL...
Update tomorrow...
went to a festival up in wajima this past weekend where i was almost burned alive (well, okay, my hair almost caught on fire), killed in a mass mob brawl for a flag (well, okay, so I never actually got close to the flag...) and then almost crushed under a wavering float held up by a dozen drunken people in loinclothes (well, okay, so I was just mildly bumped...) The next day? BEACH!!! FUN!!! OCEAN!!!...
Another pictureless post...
Well, I have come to the conclusion that i get paid waaaay to much for what i do, which to date has basically consisted of me grinning like an idiot at my fellow co-workers. Things I have bought with my first salary since yesterday: Chicken karage bento at Lawsons - 480 yen Scotch tape at the Hyakuen Store - 105 yen Royal Milk Tea from machine - 120 yen Ketai strap from Comme Ca -...
Bored...
and hungry..... i will update tommorrow. i got my first paycheck today. what to buy... what to buy... Now listening to: "Dragon Ash - Harvest" (I finally managed to find it available for rent at Tsutaya! Yeah!) 5:09 am...
Just an ordinary day...
fuuuuhhh.... just another day. My first official "real" paycheck is on Thursday. Whoo-hoo!! I am thinking about taking a trip somewhere just to celebrate, especially since I have cultural furlough all this week. I`ve come to the conclusion that the hood can be very pretty in the rain. Actually, I like the way Japan looks in the rain in general. Even the most crappy psuedo-slummy area in the biggest of cities looks so much more......
Back finally....
Wow, so xanga has been offline for almost an entire week.... arrrgghhh!! But its good to be back and no longer frustratedly hunching over the keyboard hitting the "F5" key to see if it would be back up this second...! Well, I finally got fed up with the stupid no-brake-no-gear-having grocery getter granny bike that my predecessor left me, so I went off Thursday to "get sorted with a proper bike" as these crazy members...
Beach party
Yesterday was the welcome party for all the prefectural JETS in the prefecture. Not only was this all-you-can-eat-barbecue (and copious quantities of drinkage...!!) but it was at the beautiful and lovely Uchinada beach....! only problem? THERE WAS A TYPHOON LAST NIGHT...!!!! Initial hopes were that the typhoon would either a) completely miss the prefecture b) die out by the time the party got started or c) magically disappear from 8pm until the very early morning,...
A random business trip
Sorry for the lack of updates recently. Not having a computer at home is really cramping my style lol. Must... get... computer... soon. Hmm, i guess we all know what my first paycheck is going for... (that and a proper bicycle...!) Also, sorry about the crappy cell phone camera pics - i can`t upload my regular digicam pics to the internet cafe comp. Just got back from what was described to me as a "business...
All about bicycles...
My predecessor was kind enough to leave me a bike. Two of them, in fact. They`re very nice bikes, I should add, complete with baskets, and a little cute bell, and one of them even has some sort of jerry-rigged lamp attachment. They are, all in all, two very nice asian style bikes. Now why the emphasis on asian...? Hmm.. Well, there are certain, idiosynchrocies (spelling...? only one week and already forgetting my english...) about...
