wait, are you on styleforum? or just ask andy? i think i'm registered on sf, but i don't go to it. actually, i need to since i want to find a substitute for those frye brando lace boots. they don't have them in black in my size! they won't make anymore! wtf!?

a lot of the stuff i see on superfuture - the forum i frequent - that i like are japanese interpretations of american work wear, but $$$. damn. unfortunately i am still dressing like i did as an undergraduate.

you should uh, post photos of your outfits. i am loving the english feel of your suit. have you thought about finding a cheap flight to hk/china to get a three piece? i'm sure there are good suggestions for places online.

gah, i can't wait until i make money. that's all i ask, a decent salary where i can sock away money for retirement, for imaginary children, for my spouse, for my house and car, for basic living expenses, and still have plenty left over for MY WARDROBE. that three piece on the bottom right looks SO COOL. did you buy something like that?

i've used expedia before, although only for hotel bookings. what terrible service you received! have you made a complaint to company hq? you should get a voucher or something...the consumerist.com is also one place to voice your anger. public shaming! public shaming!

maybe you two should go to hokkaido. they have a lot of dairy products there and it is like wisconsin, but with more japanese people and more mountains.

or you could use the refund money to buy really nice omiyage for your nice co-workers, and for the ones who implied that you imbibe too many calories, give them something horrid and say "well, you were watching your figure, yeah?" while their colleagues are eating melon flavored melon corn snacks or something tasty.

anyway, i will down some water from the company cooler in anticipation of your road trip. ROAD TRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!!!!

mmm gum. i can't have it too often - although i really hate mint gum and since that's all there is it's a good thing, i suppose - because it makes my jaw go all out of whack.

ugh, what is with asian people? hk is really obsessed with being thin as well. it's terrible. you should say something rude like, "why do you have so many wrinkles on your face?" or "i drink a lot of juice because i can't drink alcohol at work" or "i drink a lot because it relieves all the stress your incompetence bestows upon me."

interesting point, maimai. i would agree that upon closer inspection yes, rosie o'donnell's actions weren't overtly racist in the way that her words directly oppressed someone. however, i wouldn't call them innocent either.

but how am i to ignore that horrible feeling when i watched that clip? i think it's an indication that something is wrong. what i infer from her actions is that no one is demanding that she learn chinese or that even language is a vital identifier of culture.

are you including me in your label of asian americans? it sounds rather hypocritical make such generalizations. although i do know of people like the type you describe, there's a lot of bitterness in those words.

Panda Tripping in Tokyo...

You probably have thought of all this, but:

Fantastic Foods makes yummy refried beans that can be reconstituted with hot water; Whole Food sells it in bulk. It comes in a flaky dry format but it is soo good. You should have someone - me?? - buy a few pounds and send it to you. I'm going to HK mid October so shipping to Japan would be relatively cheap?

These seem like easy recipes that use ingredients found anywhere for corn and flour tortillas:

regarding your comment on my xanga; deep down i feel like everything has to do with race. with the old man i feel like he doesn't respect me because he feels like the other guy was more competent, even though i don't make mistakes. with the woman at target, i doubt she would have approached me if i were white and dressed more gothily/punkily.

i try not to be paranoid, especially with my recent disillusionment of the whole social justice movement, but i get the feeling that i still am!

i think that i've been lazy about what i mean when i make references to people's race in my interactions with them without further explanation and therefore discriminatory. so, thanks for the head's up; i'll try to be more specific!
