Nekobukuro Kitty Kats

Great pictures! Love the third kitty shot. I might need to pay a visit to this place, seeing as I can't have a cat lest my dad decides never to visit me. Oh wait... ^^ I kid.

I heard about the fingerprinting policy that's going into effect in Japan, but I imagine you're referring to other, more serious issues as well. Now I'm curious, not to mention a little concerned. Do you think the new policies will have heavy implications for visitors to Japan as well? I'm considering holidaying there for a bit next summer.

The Time Travelers Panda

Love the haircut. Clean and stylish, yet a little edgy.

Birthday Scarf Panda

Hello hello,

Happy belated birthday! I'm horribly sorry to have missed even the week-after, but I hope you had a better time after the disappointment of the day itself. Won't you tell us exactly when your birthday is so we may innundate you with all sorts of things birthday-ey next year forth?

My blog is languishing away as I've just no time to post right now. A combination of having much reading and tests, a telly in my dorm, as well as no laptop is very detrimental to blogging. Wait not, and you shall not be disappointed. (sorry.)

cheers from boring dc,
adele

ps: I do admire your keen fashion sense. That scarf is very tasteful. If only chic were more affordable!

Rocking out...

Oo-er -- can't say we weren't forewarned. ^_^;;; Seems like you're having a ton of fun, though!

ps: Wuh-oh. I had no idea that DC was that dangerous till you mentioned the fact. Hahaha. Ha. Guess I'll have to play really really low-key...

Great Takayama Road Trip Part I

I love the sembei shots (it's huge!). Anything that looks that good must be horribly unhealthy though, desho? ^^;

Come to the light! Come to Apple -- join us!! :D

Moritheil: How true. I'm weak against Brit humour.

Sun and Rain...

This is lovely! I do wish you'd do more picture posts; the scenes look so different (read: clean/ orderly? :D) from what I'm used to here. If only I had a flower shop near my door too. Although you say that it lends to quite a bit of activity, I imagine walking past it in the mornings would be a nice way to start the day. While I'm wishing, I wish I were in Japan too. ^_^

By the way, here's an interesting gaijin-in-Japan blog. The author does a weekly comic based on a challenge that readers set him. When I saw his most recent post, it reminded me of your previous entry (about how authorities seem to have rather parental qualities), so I thought I'd mention it to you. Cheers!

Asbestos breathing Panda

The way Japan works is pretty scary but, as my current co-worker keeps pointing out, it continues to work in spite of it all.

True dat, it seems.

Asbestos breathing Panda

Oh no! Good thing you did push your cause (albeit at the cost of a bit of 'wa'. pfft). That was awfully dangerous.

But above that, level of trust you say the Japanese grant authority is frightening. To live in such a coccooned state, with such childish naivete is foolish, almost stupid. How will they deal with the big bad Real World? Or even before that, how will they survive themselves?

I imagine the leading figures must know what they're doing...

Pooping in Japan I - Panda and the J-toilet

Oh dear. I have heard of foreigners being unaccustomed to the squatting toilets so popular here in Asia, but never thought that it would be that challenging! I can't help but laugh, but it must have been quite terrible then, I imagine.

I'd have thought Japan would have immaculate toilets (generally); what with their anal "Clean! Neat! Kirei!" attitude about... well... a lot of things. :)

By the way, I've moved to wordpress.com! Here's my new address: adeleth.wordpress.com. Sorry about the constant hopping around -- the services I've tried weren't very satisfactory. ^^; I'll be sticking to wordpress for a while; I quite like their service/system.

Emergency Button...

Haha! That's super funny :). Did that obaasan really call you "onisan", as in "big brother"? I suppose most of us can't resist temptation; something about a Big Red Button just screams "press me", doesn't it?

I couldn't post the following on your moblog due to some error :( so here it is:
Teddy grahams! I remember those. I think I used to like them. :) I don't recall having ever heard the term "poon"... perhaps it's very local slang? In which case Japanese QC probably wouldn't have noticed a problem.

How Apple iTunes 5.0 almost ruined my life...

Does itunes 5.0 perform remarkably better than 4.0? I'm refusing to upgrade to itunes 5.0 for the moment since apple decided to revamp the look. Sad! They should have stuck with brushed metal.

"To send someone to coventry" is a dated british way of saying, "to give someone the silent treatment". I blame it all on Enid Blyton. A friend of mine had been giving me mixed signals for a while, and then until recently, suddenly chose not to speak to me. So, confused adele = unhappy adele = frustrated post. :)

Turning 26...

Happy belated, mistarpanda!

Seems like the general consensus is for you to not return to the states yet; either stay in Japan or move to another country for a bit first. What do you think?

I don't feel like I'm in any position to try and influence your living plans. I'm younger and have even less experience to draw on to dispense words of wisdom. ^_^ However, I will say that if given the choice myself, I'd choose to travel some and see where I fit in.

Will you regret it terribly if you don't stay in Tokyo? Do you badly want to explore a different part of the world? If so, and if you do choose to move to the city, would you be willing to uproot yourself again to go somewhere else?

At the end of the day, none of them are "wrong", really; just not what you want most at the moment, perhaps. Good luck with the decision process. :)

Cheers!

Panda Tripping in Tokyo...

Oh no! The fake-o muscle bit is so silly it would be unbelievable if not for those pictures. Perhaps those guys were trying to make up in (artificial) brawn what they lack in brains... ^_^;

Am glad your trip to Tokyo is leaving you a little less disillusioned. Are you planning to move there if you stay on?

Monkah is super cute. Je l'aime!

Panda fails his driving test...

ooh, ouch. I don't think it was such as stupid mistake really, since you're probably much more accustomed to being on the right-hand side of the road. It must feel against all laws of nature to drive on the opposite side of the road for you. :D

Coming from a country with the same road system, just being _driven_ down the right side of the road felt so very wrong initially. I would feel a crawling fear that at any moment an oncoming vehicle was going to automagically materialise before us and -- and --

Traumatic experience, that. In any case, better luck for the next test!

ps: a link you say? please do! and thank you ^^

Busy webcoding panda...

Very cool. Am turning a little green, not unlike the shade you used on the jet site. :)

Hope all is going well. Bonne chance for the presentation!
