ootoya was the first restaurant i ever ate at in japan.they used to be just in Tokyo but i was well chuffed to see they just opened a branch near Tennis's house. When i brought her there the other day she quickly became enamoured of it too and its easy to see why...cheap prices, delicious food and an inviting atmosphere...i'll be back in Tokyo for the first weekend in June so if you happen to be anywhere near Iidabashi look for a ravenous panda like figure feasting his nostalgic little self senseless at the one that started it all.
ahhh...memories...

Just got back from Fukuoka. There is an Ootoya near Nishijin station. I loved the food and the atmosphere. I also loved the fact that the staff did there very best to put up with my limited Japanese. If you haven't been there lately, try the kimchee (Korean taste) chicken. Its the best!
