Tiny Planets

Spring is slowly making its way to Japan (even though today was a freezing cold day), and I decided to take advantage of the nice weather last week to make some so-called “tiny planets” pictures.

Most of these pictures were taken in the vast Showa Memorial Park in Tachikawa, out West of Tokyo. You might remember this park from a visit I took last Autumn, pictures of which you can see here.

If you’re interested in making your own “tiny planets”, a good place to start out is the Flickr “Wee Planets” photo group. They’re not actually that hard to do (I’ve heard some people even make them by hand using a digital point and shoot, though I used a tripod mounted DSLR), however, processing them takes some time and a steady hand with the Photoshop clone/heal brush.

You can click on the links under each picture if you want to see a bigger version. As for the Great 2008 Cross-Japan Autumn Road Trip, I promise, promise, promise I’ll have the next installment of that soon.
